Status Update: Exciting Progress on Fiber Optic Expansion 1 Oct 2024, 6:55 pm

Bascom Communications and North Central Electric Cooperative are finalizing a few remaining legal and construction plans as part of our continued effort to bring cutting-edge fiber optic technology to the rural communities of Seneca and Crawford Counties. This crucial step sets the stage for the next phase of our project. While there are no major updates at this time, we are moving steadily forward and look forward to sharing more exciting details with you soon!
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to connect and empower our communities.
A True Example of Commitment To Community 13 Sep 2024, 12:54 pm
At Bascom Communications, being a local cooperative means commitment to our community is at the core of what we do. Our employees are not just staffâthey are neighbors who care deeply about going above and beyond to serve. Here is a heartwarming example of that commitment in action:
Recently, a good Samaritan found a large wireless remote control along the road and brought it in, thinking it belonged to us. We wish we had their name to thank them personally, but we are incredibly grateful for their kindness! Although the remote wasnât ours, JR Brickner, our Drop Crew/Fleet Manager, took it upon himself to track down its owner. JR investigated thoroughly. It had limited controls but included a toggle button for a winch, blade, and tracks. Thinking it might belong to a local construction or ditching company, JR reached out to several businesses, but none recognized it.
Undeterred, JR contacted the manufacturer in Montana using the ID tag and serial number on the device. They traced it back to a company in Kansas, who then informed us that it belonged to a business in Plain City, Ohio. It turns out, they were in Tiffin for soil borings at the airport when the remote fell off their trailer and was found at the corner of State Route 224 and State Route 53.
Thanks to JRâs dedicationâand the good Samaritan who found itâthe remote was returned to its rightful owner within a week. This experience highlights how wonderful our community is and reminds us that the little things can mean the most!

At Bascom Communications, we are not just a service providerâwe are your neighbors, and we are always here to help!
