S&S CYCLE TUNED INDUCTION AIR CLEANER 23 Mar 2025, 11:30 pm

S&S Cycle has been in the performance game for over six decades, and their latest offering, the Tuned Induction Air Cleaner, is all about getting more air where it counts.

[March 19, 2025 Viola, WI] — Air flow is everything in a performance engine and naturally it begins at the air filter. Factory units are downright boxy and can be very restrictive. The S&S Cycle Tuned Induction Air Cleaner utilizes two laser cut and highly engineered tubes merged into a single collector and fed by a pair of high flow air filters placed directly in the air flow. The end result is maximum performance for your engine, ample room for your leg to sit tightly against the body of your M8 Touring or Softail model, and a stylish package.

Available in Gloss Black, Chrome, or Stainless Steel finishes, our Tuned Induction systems allow for a 44% increase in air flow over the stock element, providing bolt-on performance thanks to twice the filtering area. The dual smooth intake tracts are precision engineered lengths to increase performance. Like all S&S Cycle air cleaners, our Tuned Induction system features high-flow filter elements that are both washable and reusable, to provide a long life of performance!

The best part is that this system is exempt from emissions tampering regulations under CARB EO# D-355-55 so there are no restrictions on shipping or installing these systems no matter which state you’re in. Note that the Tuned Induction system will not fit on motorcycles equipped with fairing lower glove boxes or Twin-Cooled™ models.

Find more information, and get a Tuned Induction air cleaner kit for yourself today from your local S&S Cycle dealer or directly from www.sscycle.com

Full Throttle Sturgis to Showcase Michael Lichter’s Iconic Motorcycle Photography During 85th Rally 23 Mar 2025, 11:16 pm

STURGIS, South Dakota, March 17, 2025 (VTC Newswire) – Full Throttle Sturgis has announced an exciting highlight for the upcoming 85th annual Pappy Hoel Motorcycle Rally. Attendees will experience an exclusive art exhibition featuring the renowned work of Michael Lichter, the world’s foremost motorcycle photographer. This special showcase will be hosted at the state-of-the-art Full Throttle Expo Center gallery during the rally, from August 1st through August 9th, 9 AM to 8 PM daily.

The exhibition will present a selection of Lichter’s images from his forty-five year career, including some of his most iconic images of Sturgis dating back to the 1970s, as well as some never-before-seen works. This display coincides with Lichter being honored during this year’s rally as the recipient of the prestigious 2025 Arlen Ness Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating his unparalleled contributions to the art, culture and lifestyle of American motorcycling.

“On behalf of our family, staff, and customers, we want to congratulate Michael on his lifetime achievement award,” said Michael Ballard, owner and creator of Full Throttle Sturgis. “And we couldn’t be more excited for our customers to experience Michael’s work up close and personal in our beautiful new art gallery.”

Lichter’s photography captures the essence of American motorcycling, immortalizing its spirit, camaraderie, and culture through vivid and evocative visual storytelling. His legacy stems from decades of dedication, documenting the adventurous and artistic soul of custom bike builders, bikers and events like the Pappy Hoel Motorcycle Rally. His remarkable work reflects the blend of art, freedom, and shared experiences that define life on two wheels.

“Mike, Angie, and Jesse have made the Full Throttle a premier motorcycle and tourist destination over the last 20 years,” says Michael Lichter. “Now, with their world-class art gallery — one that rivals spaces you would find in New York and LA – they’ve elevated the experience further. I am so looking forward to this opportunity to share my work with the audience at the Full Throttle, which will surely include bikers who have never seen it before.”

The concept of curated motorcycle showcases has gained significant momentum over the past decade, inspired by the groundwork laid by Lichter’s annual “Motorcycles as Art” exhibit, which captivated enthusiasts for over 20 years. His trailblazing efforts in combining custom motorcycles and moto-themed art helped elevate motorcycles to a celebrated form of folk art.

Full Throttle Sturgis invites motorcycle enthusiasts, rally-goers, and art lovers to visit the Full Throttle Expo Center and celebrate this extraordinary artist’s work. Attendees can look forward to an inspiring visual narrative celebrating motorcycling’s history, culture, and community. Watch for details on when Michael will be in the gallery to meet with guests and tell stories behind the creation of the images.

Straight Laces – How To Lace A Spoke Wheel For Beginners 14 Mar 2025, 5:37 pm

Now On The Cycle Source Blog

One thing I have not learned yet is how to lace a spoke wheel. Well, for this month’s tech, we are gonna learn some good stuff! I have cleaned up the hub, bought some stainless spokes and a rim to give it a try. Let’s see if we can make it happen!

Got my hub all cleaned up and installed new wheel bearings and seals.

You will notice that there are two different kinds of spokes. The Heads Out spokes have a shallower throat. The Heads In spokes have deeper throats.

You will want to separate the spokes before you get started. I also inspect the spoke threads for burs by spinning on a nipple to make sure they are good. You don’t want to find bad spoke threads halfway through lacing your wheel.

It’s a good idea to have a wheel or a good picture of one to help with laying out the spoke pattern.

I install the Heads Out spokes first, the ones that go into the hub flange from the outside, remember these are the ones that have a shallow throat. The Heads In spokes with the deeper throat go through the hub from the inside out. You can see that they alternate one in, and one out.

I’m using stainless steel spokes and nipples, so, I decided to use anti-seize to lubricate the threads for assembly.

Once I got the spoke pattern figured out and laced into the rim I installed all the spoke nipples finger tight.

Next, I put the wheel on my Motion Pro truing stand to see what we are working with.

As the wheel is spun on the truing stand you are able to see the adjustments that are necessary by using the red pointer indicator. I then start snuggling up all the spoke nipples a little at a time until they are tight and produce a high-pitched “ting” sound when you tap them. Try to get the “ting”sound as even as possible across all the spokes. They do not need to be super tight but just enough that the sound resonates and isn’t a dead clunk.

This being the first wheel I have laced I found ti to be an enjoyable challenge, and I am looking forward to the next one!

S&S CYCLE ANNOUNCES VINTAGE TOUR 2025 26 Feb 2025, 10:49 pm

S&S Cycle On Tour–Again

In 2003 S&S Cycle surprised the v-twin industry with the release of a 145ci engine to commemorate our 45th Anniversary and Harley-Davidson’s 100th, but that wasn’t the biggest surprise. When five custom bike builders stepped up to create bikes that showcased the monster engine and have their creations ride on the S&S Cycle truck all year, that rocked the industry. Builders coming together, working as a team and putting individual promotion aside to support S&S in celebration of the v-twin industry was a new concept regarding ‘build-offs’.

In succession S&S followed up with The 124 Tour, The Shovel Tour, The World Builders Showcase Tour and, of course, one of the most memorable bike events in history, the S&S 50th Anniversary. In each of these tours, custom builders came together to show the industry what camaraderie and team spirit really looks like.

After a 17-year hiatus, S&S Cycle is bringing back a tour. But not just any tour, no, this one digs into our roots—The S&S Cycle Vintage Tour. The tour will showcase three of our vintage powerplants and six incredibly talented builders. There were no rules, no limits on creativity, in fact we asked the builders to build what was in their hearts not to a style we were looking for.

“In years past, S&S worked closely with industry leaders and builders in celebration of creativity and teamwork within the v-twin industry.  Each project we pursued was memorable and a bonding event for S&S Cycle, the builders, enthusiasts, and the industry alike.  Our aim in rejuvenating these builds is to reestablish that creativity and teamwork and have a whole lot of fun!  I want to thank Howard Kelly for returning to S&S and taking on the responsibility of leading our marketing department and the Vintage Tour.   Teach, Chip, Brian, Chris, Mike and Xavier, thank you for your time, effort, and creativity; now, let’s go have fun and share what you’ve built with everyone else!” Brett Smith, Director, S&S Cycle.

Meet the Builders:

KN-Series

P-Series

SH-Series

The bikes will be unveiled to the public at Daytona Bike Week, 2/28 at 10:00AM and everyone is invited! Our display will be at the J&P Cycles lot at Destination Daytona. This unveiling celebrates both the coolness of the bikes being built (and yes, in true custom fashion, they are still being built at the time of this writing) and the incredible group of men who came together to be a team and show the custom industry just how much fun can be had working towards a common goal.

Said Howard Kelly, S&S Cycle Senior Director of Marketing, “I have had the privilege of being involved in all of the S&S tours as both an industry member and an S&S employee. Having almost daily interaction with this group and seeing their excitement and support of each other reminds me of just how much fun all the tours were and the friendships they created.”

The bikes will tour with the S&S Cycle truck to Daytona Bike Week, the Donnie Smith Show, Born Free California, and culminate in Sturgis, South Dakota.

Buell Motorcycle Co. to Showcase Super Cruisers &Customs at Daytona Bike Week 26 Feb 2025, 7:17 pm

Grand Rapids, Michigan – February 25, 2025 – Buell Motorcycles is barrelling toward Daytona Bike Week with a full lineup of American muscle.

From February 28th to March 9th, Daytona attendees will be able to get up close and
personal for a look at the Hammerhead and 1190SX models, as well as new SuperTouring
prototypes, the final prototype Super Cruisers and a slew of fresh, radically different, custom
Super Cruiser builds.

Find our team in Destination Daytona near J&P Cycles for a front-row look at what we’ve
been preparing for the 2025 riding season!

Buell Super Cruiser at Daytona Final Prototypes
This year, Daytona Bike Week 2025 will be the launchpad for the highly anticipated, final Super
Cruiser prototype. We’ll have seven final prototypes present at Daytona, alternating the bikes
between displays in Daytona Beach and riding the designated ride routes.

“This 2025 Daytona bike week for Buell is really special”, said Bill Melvin, CEO of Buell
Motorcycle Co. “Our company has been growing exponentially as we ramp up for the Super
Cruiser production launch and these final prototypes are a big accomplishment in that journey.
The Super Cruiser is now fully engineered & supply chain sourced. These builds allow us to vet
out any final tweaks with suppliers as we ramp up order volumes.”

A key highlight of the final prototype is Buell’s new partnership with Fox Factory. This
collaboration has resulted in a pioneering full on-road suspension system, featuring a new fork
and shock. Fox’s suspension will work in concert with dual-disc EBC rotors and Brembo
calipers.

Full details on both the suspension and braking systems will be revealed at Daytona.

Custom Super Cruiser Builds
To demonstrate the extreme versatility of the Super Cruiser platform, our team has put together
a handful of one-of-a-kind custom Super Cruisers.

“The vision and art of the Super Cruiser is now being unveiled!” Melvin continues. “When we
designed the RSD concept, the goal was a highly customizable platform to allow our riders to
flex their muscle and their style. Being the rider’s rider, we let our creative juices flow, and our
skunkworks team built some epic customs.”

These custom machines are strictly concept builds and will not be manufactured for the market.
Each bike is a unique expression of the platform’s potential, designed to demonstrate the
endless possibilities of mods with a Super Cruiser.

We hope these custom Cruisers will inspire our riders to go wild when the Super Cruiser debuts
to markets at the end of this year!

These customs share the same tank and engine as the production Super Cruiser, highlighting
the modularity of the platform and the Super Cruiser’s potential for extreme customization.

Buell Bike Presence at Daytona – You asked, we answered.

Thanks to the overwhelming requests for more Buell bikes at 2025 events, this year will be one
of our largest yet. On top of the Super Cruiser prototypes and customs, we are also bringing

? Buell 1190SX Models for Sale
? Buell SuperTouring prototype

Cruiser.

Forward controls keep the rider’s legs in a more relaxed and comfortable position, while its Quarter Fairing and 6.5-inch windscreen provide wind protection with  a clean, sporty look. Sport Chief RT features a 19-inch front, and a 16-inch rear contrast cut lightweight cast alloy wheels, wrapped in Metzeler® Cruisetec® tires.

Premium Components: The 2025 Sport Chief RT introduces an all-new PowerBand Audio Bluetooth® Speaker – standard on Sport Chief RT models and available as an accessory across the entire Indian Chief lineup.

The PowerBand Audio Bluetooth® Speaker secures between the Sport Chief RT’s handlebar risers and Quarter Fairing, as two 2.5-inch mid-range speakers, one 4.5-inch subwoofer and two tweeters deliver 90 watts of crystal-clear audio at highway speeds. Featuring a five-band equalizer, accessible via the 4-Inch Touchscreen Display Powered by RIDE COMMAND, riders can personalize their listening experience by selecting the setting best suited for their favorite music genre.

Indian Motorcycle’s 4-Inch Touchscreen Display Powered by RIDE COMMAND is integrated into the dash and can be accessed via handlebar controls or the display directly, with or without gloves. Riders can select music, control audio settings, access bike and ride information, and cycle through multiple interfaces, including two different gauge configurations. With connected services, riders can access turn-by-turn navigation with intuitive search, Bike Health, Bike Locator and more for free for one-year after which an annual fee applies. When pairing the RIDE COMMAND system with a wireless helmet communicator, riders can access their phone information and accept or reject calls directly through the bike’s touchscreen display.

All the rider-centric features riders want, and need, are standard on the Sport Chief RT. Cruise control, keyless ignition, ABS, LED lighting, and a USB charging port provide a premium experience so the rider can focus on the road ahead.

Purpose-Built Performance: At the heart of the Sport Chief RT is Indian Motorcycle’s Thunderstroke 116 V-twin engine. With its air-cooled simplicity, the Sport Chief RT packs 120 ft-lbs of torque for raw passing power. Three ride modes (Sport, Standard, Tour) each provide unique throttle responses to fit riding conditions and match rider preferences.

In addition, KYB® inverted front forks offer superior handling and ride performance. Lighter than standard cartridge style forks, Sport Chief RT’s KYB® inverted front forks provide responsive front-end handling – allowing riders to ride harder with less fatigue and more confidence. Adding comfort and aftermarket style are a pair of Performance Adjustable Piggyback Rear Shocks by FOX®. With easy-to-operate 23-click twist knobs, riders can adjust compression and rebound damping to suit their riding preferences – delivering a smoother, more comfortable ride. Offering confidence-inspiring stopping power and a more responsive feel are the Sport Chief RT’s Dual Brembo® four-piston calipers with semi-floating 320mm rotors.

Accessories: New for 2025 is a High Mounted Tee Bar. Offering a custom edge, the High Mounted Tee Bar provides essential slow-speed tip-over protection while featuring iconic Indian Motorcycle branding on the end caps. The High Mounted Tee Bar seamlessly complements the premium look and feel of any 2022 and newer Indian Chief.

Indian Sport Chief RT riders looking to add personal style and change ergonomics can add 10-inch Moto Handlebar Risers, while low and tall Flared Wind Deflector options are available for the Sport Chief RT’s Quarter Fairing. For added nighttime visibility, the Chief Pathfinder 5 ¾-inch Adaptive LED Headlight projects light a greater distance with a wider spread. Its patented, innovative technology monitors the bike’s lean angle to optimize illumination of the road ahead.

Launching alongside the Sport Chief RT is the new Super Chief Dark Horse. Featuring blacked-out, fender-to-fender styling, with premium gloss paint, the Super Chief Dark Horse delivers even more attitude. Now available in two trim options, Limited and Dark Horse, each Super Chief is powered by the Thunderstroke 116 and comes standard with premium features, including the 4-Inch Touchscreen Display powered by RIDE COMMAND, ride modes, cruise control, keyless ignition, and USB Charging capabilities.

In addition, all 2025 Sport Chief models are standard with forward controls, delivering relaxed and comfortable ergonomics. Riders preferring mid controls can exchange the forwards for Mid Foot Controls and still enjoy their preferred riding ergonomics.

Featuring four models, with varying style trim levels, the 2025 Indian Chief lineup will begin shipping to dealers in February.
