Warehouse Management Certification (Course EMG 380): This four and a half (4.5) week class provides comprehensive training in the principles of warehouse operations and safe work practices. One week will be devoted to warehousing practices including distributed order management, inbound and outbound processing, kitting and assembly (light manufacturing) and order fulfillment. Students will learn how to operate Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) software for inventory control, bar coding, and scan gun usage. The 40 Hour HAZWOPER course will address the health and safety hazards present in a warehouse environment. There will be an overview of special handling requirements for storage and tracking of materials that require environmental hazardous materials segregation, procedures and certifications. The OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 19101.1200) will be covered so that employees will be trained in the handling of the hazardous substances with which they work. The Hazardous Materials Transportation module will instruct students on how to prepare packages and documentation for shipping and receiving in accordance with the Department of Transportation and federal regfulations. A one week hands-on lab in forklift and industrial truck operation and maintenance will introduce the student to multiple pick methods and pallet and load building. The OSHA Standard (29 CFR 1910.95) on Industrial Noise Protection will be presented in addition to the 10 Hour OSHA General Industry Outreach Program.
