Spring: The Perfect Time to Celebrate the New Year According to the God of Israel

By Officer Charmain D. Ford March 3, 2023
As the days get longer and the world comes alive in the spring, with trees budding, flowers blooming, and wildlife emerging from hibernation, the birds return to build their nests, and the excitement of a new beginning fills the air. It is a time of renewal, a time of hope, and a time of celebration. This season of renewal and rebirth is the perfect time to rejuvenate oneself and make new beginnings. Spring is also a season of hope, joy, and positivity. The sun shines brighter, the days get longer, and people start to shed their winter blues. Celebrating the New Year in the spring means starting the year positively, with renewed energy, enthusiasm, and optimism.
For the God of Israel and his chosen people, this time of year marks the beginning of a new year – a time of new opportunities and blessings. This article will explore the benefits and advantages of celebrating the New Year in the spring, which is the God of Israel’s New Year and a statute for his chosen people.
The God of Israel’s New Year
The God of Israel’s new year begins on the new moon closest to the spring equinox. The New Year is called Abib (Exodus 23:15), which means “spring”. It is the first month of the Israelite calendar and marks the beginning of the agricultural cycle, a time for the sowing of seeds. It is a time of rebirth and renewal when new life bursts forth from the ground as the earth awakens from its winter slumber and begins to produce new life.
In the book of Exodus, God speaks to Moses and Aaron and tells them that Abib will be the first month of the year for the Israelites. “This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you” (Exodus 12:2).
The Month of Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread
One of the significant highlights of Abib is that it is the month of Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Passover commemorates the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and the beginning of their journey towards the Promised Land. It is a time to remember God’s faithfulness and provision, as well as a time to reflect on the importance of freedom and redemption.
The Israelites were commanded to eat only unleavened bread for seven days during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This event reminded them of their hasty departure from Egypt, where they did not have time to let their bread rise. It is also a time to remember the bitterness of the Israelites’ enslavement, symbolised by the bitter herbs. Finally, it is an ordinance that all Israelites must keep forever throughout their generations (Exodus 12:17).

The Importance of Following Statutes
God’s commandment to celebrate the New Year in the spring and observe Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread is a statute given to the Israelites. A statute is a culture, commandment or law the God of Israel gives, which is to be obeyed and followed.
God says to the Israelites in the book of Leviticus, “These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’s Passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread” (Leviticus 23:4-6).
Following God’s statutes and celebrating the New Year in the spring, the Israelites should acknowledge their faith and devotion to God. Observing these special occasions also creates a sense of community and unity.
The Benefits of Celebrating the New Year in the Spring
According to the God of Israel’s calendar, there are many benefits and advantages in celebrating the New Year in the spring. Here are some of them:
Spiritual Renewal: Just as the earth is renewed in the spring, so can our spirits be renewed as we reflect on how the God of Israel delivered the Israelites from the land of their captivity by a mighty right hand while devastating their enemies. It is a time to reset and refocus our priorities and seek God’s guidance for the year ahead.
Community: The spring festivals provide an excellent opportunity for solidarity and community. During the Passover season, the Israelite families gather around the table to share a meal and re-tell the Exodus story. It is a time to strengthen relationships and build new ones.
Growth and Development: The spring season also provides growth and development opportunities. Reflecting on the past year and setting goals for the year ahead; can strengthen our faith, character, and relationships. We can also develop new skills and talents as we participate in the various activities and traditions of the season.
Connection to the Cycle of Life: The spring season is deeply connected to the cycle of life and the agricultural cycle. As we participate in the various customs and traditions, we are reminded of our dependence on the God of Israel’s provision and our responsibility to spread the truth, as many of us do not have physical land to cultivate.

INWWM’s Grand New Year Celebration
Imagine celebrating the New Year in the spring with the beauty of nature in full bloom, the fragrance of flowers in the air, and the sun’s warmth on your skin. The season symbolises new beginnings, making it the perfect time to set goals and aspirations for the coming year.
After several years of lockdowns and restrictions due to COVID-19, the Israelite Nation World-Wide Ministries (INWWM) will be hosting a grand New Year’s celebration for brethren from around the world and their guests. The New Year celebration will be a time of rejoicing as brethren gather to celebrate the start of a new year.
The celebration will include worship, music, dancing, traditional food, and various activities that align with the New Year’s biblical teachings. It will be a time of reflection as brethren reflect on the past year and look forward to the blessings and opportunities that the new year will bring.
By participating in the INWWM’s grand New Year celebration, brethren will experience the joy and significance of celebrating the New Year in the spring season. They will be able to connect with old and new brethren from around the world and create a sense of unity and one accord. In addition, guests will have the opportunity to experience the rich history and traditions of the Israelites.
Conclusion;
Spring is a time of renewal, and rebirth and the perfect time to celebrate the true New Year. As the God of Israel’s New Year begins in the month of Abib (spring), it is a time of great significance for the Israelites. By following God’s statutes and celebrating the New Year in the spring, the Israelites can demonstrate their faith and dedication to the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob and create a sense of community and unity.

Fringe Benefits – the truth behind fringes 11 Aug 2019, 8:06 pm
FRINGE BENEFITS
“No Strings Attached”
by Elder Michael
In the second year after the exodus of our Israelite forefathers from Egypt, the God of Israel instructed Moses in the wilderness of Sinai concerning the protocol of the Tabernacle of Testimony. Included in these instructions was the dress code for the Israelite Assembly:
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God. I amthe LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I amthe LORD your God. [Numbers 15:37-40]
Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.[Deuteronomy 22:12]
Since a blue fringe is extremely important to the Israelite, it is necessary to ensure that the instructions are followed exactly as given. Unfortunately, strangers have muddied the waters concerning “fringes”, placing vanity ahead of humility and obedience. Just to be clear, as stated above, there is no biblical mandate for loose, hanging strings, tassels, etc. Therefore, we mustfirst establish the basic Biblical perspective and then examine the instruction within the given context.
- The instruction was a command from “The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob”.
- It was given exclusively to the Israelite Nation at the border of Egypt.
- A fringe of blue ribband was to be added to the border of the Israelite’s garment as a reminder of the Law.
- The Commandment highlighted the role of the Israelite, especially regarding worship, i.e. the Assembly of the Tabernacle.
- The blue fringe emphasized the Covenant with the God of Israel and the significance thereof.
Since the Covenant is implicated, the name of the God of Israel must first be validated – (Exodus 3:13-15).This is the same God who selected Moses to lead his Israelite Family, and whom we worship in spirit and in truth, trusting in his Word. We also recognize his signature: “I amthe LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I amthe LORD your God”. Any other source, by any other name would render this command and all others invalid.
Second, the instruction was given secretly to the Israelite Nation at the border of Egypt. There was no other nation present. Therefore, much significance is attached to the name of the Congregation because it legally identifies the nation to whom the secret instruction was given and also the location of that nation at the border of Egypt (whether past or present).
Third, a blue ribband fringe had to be added to the border of the Israelite’s garment as a reminder of the Law. Hence, we see a linen robe with a blue edge or border around the neck, the two sleeves and the perimeter above the feet, like a protective layer covering all four corners of the body. This spiritual perfection calls to mind the four Angels that protect the four corners of the Earth – Rev. 7:1-10, and man was made from the soil of the Earth (humus).
Now, the word “vesture” (Deut. 22:12) signifies a legal covering and confirms that the Israelite Nation is permanently covered by the Covenant, just as the blue sky covers the Earth. This places the robe of the Israelite, with its blue border, in a special legal category. In addition, the word “Ribband” (ribbon) consists of “rib” (covering) and “band” (a flat, thin edge used for binding or tying; a bandage or constraint), from which we get “bond”. The implication is not fashion related, but rather the legally binding Covenant between the God of Israel and the Israelite Nation.
Fourth, when the Commandment is seen within the context of the worship of the God of Israel, it makes perfect sense. Consequently, we see the Israelites assembled to form the “Tabernacle of Witness” and glorifying the God of Israel, according to the terms of the Covenant. Thereby, we are uniquely arrayed in the Robes of Righteousness, consisting of white linen with solid blue borders. Hence, all the “curtains” of the Tabernacle are fully displayed with the Priests and the Elders contributing the additional colours of red and purple.
Now contrast the perfect spiritual majesty of the solid blue border (fringe) with the crude invention of random cords or tassels hanging loosely without any sense of reason or purpose. Such is a direct violation of the given instruction, which plainly states, “…seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring”. Even the terrible Pharisees displayed the solid ribband of blue on the four quarters of their robes, except they probably enlarged it twelve inches, instead of one or two – Matthew 23:5-7.
Therefore, as the leading authority of Truth and Righteousness, the Israelite Nation firmly declares that a fringe has nothing to do with a loosely hanging cord, tassel, thread, braided material, etc. Only the Israelite Nation, located at the border of this new Egypt (USA), is authorized to have a solid blue fringe in the four quarters of our garment. Others will soon recognize the importance of this unique quality and seek to join with us, holding on to the skirt of our robes, which has been specially fortified according to the Law –Zechariah 8:20-23.Amen!

Our New Year, Feasts and Holy Days 28 Mar 2017, 12:53 am
Our New Year, Feasts & Holy Days
Understanding Lev. 23:
NEW YEAR:
We as Israelites celebrate our New Year in the Spring, (First day of Abib when the cycle of life begins. This is an ordinance from the God of our Fathers, written in the Books of the Laws.
Exodus 12:1
“And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you”. |
Exodus 23:15
“Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:)”. |
The month of Abib is in the Spring (March/April)
WE KEEP TWO FEASTS:
(#1)The feast of unleavened bread (Passover).
Exodus 23:4-6
“These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’s Passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread”.
|
What do we understand of the above scripture?
#1: The evening and the morning is the same day. This would mean, that we keep the Passover with our brethren on the evening of the fourteenth day, and on the next day; the fifteenth (not in the evening of the fifteenth, the scripture never said that) before evening we keep the feast. You may read it again.
(#2) Feast of Tabernacles
Exodus 23:23
“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God. For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. It shall be unto you a Sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your Sabbath. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD”. |
Understanding the above scriptures should not be very difficult.
#1: The first day of every month we blow up the trumpet as stated in Psalms 81:2
“Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day”.
|
For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob. Please note carefully: from the evening of the ninth day, to the tenth day is the day of atonement. Please note evening to evening (same day). This is the day of fasting and praying. and on the fifteenth day we have our feast which lasts for seven days. The trumpet ceremony however, is very different on the first day of Ethanim, which is rightly called “THE BLOWING OF TRUMPETS” (seventh month).
(#3) Because we are no longer in the land, we cannot keep the third feast The feast of Harvest., or feast of Weeks: The feast of weeks and the feast of harvest are one and the same. Let us turn to Exodus for you to understand Lev; Exod.34:22
“And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the first fruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year’s end”.
|
This feast was kept twice; at the time of preparing (ingathering), and the time of reaping (harvesting), but together they were called The feast of harvest/weeks. 23:9
“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest unto the priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the LORD. And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the LORD for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven Sabbaths shall be complete: Even unto the morrow after the seventh Sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD”. |
This is the only feast, where the following words are mentioned:- WHEN YE COME INTO THE LAND. This statement alone should make it very clear, but let us try to examine it carefully.
#1: The instructions regarding the feast of the Passover finishes at verse 8.
From verse 9, we are dealing with another feast. The feast of harvest. This point must be made very clear, and first understood, before there could be any measure of understanding…
#2: We are not in the land. We are at present, in the land of our captivity. We are not reaping any fruits, first or last. Therefore this alone makes this feast null and void to us.
#3: Counting fifty days from anywhere in the Passover month to be called Pentecost is utter nonsense, and ridiculous. The feast of harvest was kept in the month of Ethanim, which is end of summer, or there about. This is the time of reaping or harvest. Not in the first or second month, not even the third.. What would you be reaping at this time? We should stop believing the teachings of the Khazars.
#4: The feast of ingathering took place in the month of Adar. (The end of the year) This is when the soil was being prepared to plant in the new year, in the first or second month of the year.
Exodus 23:16
“And the feast of harvest, the first fruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field”. |
Please note the word LABOUR in the above scripture first fruits of they labour. (First fruit of thy hand, thy sweat, thy work etc.). The feast of ingathering, is the hard work you put in, at this time of preparation. This is the time when you pull out the straws, and old weeds, rake the land, etc. Please note even at the feast of harvest wine could have been used, but only after the Sabbath.
And as the scripture states: 23:37
“These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day”: |
