Just Keep Swimming 20 Nov 2116, 9:31 pm

Hanging out with some bison in Yellowstone National Park. Time for a bath and then some fisticuffs, or rather hooves and hornsticuffs, behind mom’s back. And let’s throw in a smoking sunset at the end of the trip for good measure.

Bird Watching 9 Mar 2024, 1:26 am

A few years back a friend pointed out birds existence to me, and now I can’t not notice them. They sing, they are colorful, they soar in open skies, and yet many people are unaware of them. Of course I enjoy identifying them, but even more, I love capturing them with my camera. I have hundreds, maybe thousands, of bird photos, but these are my favorites.

The Black-chinned hummingbird — I might have hundreds of photos just from this day. But it was worth it to get this shot.

The Cedar Waxwing — This is my favorite bird. It looks like its tail was delicately painted with a brush. And then the eye mask just makes me smile.

The American Kestrel — A fascinating falcon for sure, but to see it in its winter clothes…wow!

Schwabacher Landing 20 Nov 2018, 9:42 pm

A beautiful morning was spent watching the never disappointing Schwabacher sunrise. It seemed the further I walked down the path, the more beautiful the scenery became. Then, just while the sun was hitting the perfect peaks of the Grand Teton, a rustling was heard in a nearby pond. It was a mother moose and her baby. A tough decision…keep shooting the sunrise that I had awaken so early to see, or miss it to watch the moose….wildlife always win. No regrets. To hear their calls to each other as they wandered through the tall grass and then catch a moment of tenderness between them was nothing short of amazing. As quickly as they entered the scene, they left. Looking back to the mountains, I was welcomed by a scene that warmed me to the heart. Sometimes the most precious moments are not the ones you are looking for.

Moose 20 Nov 2018, 8:03 pm

The BEST photography experience I’ve ever had was spending the afternoon with this moose and his pal. The calmness they emitted was the total opposite of the excited quaking I experienced while trying to hold my camera still to take photo after photo from the sunroof of my car of these beautiful creatures only feet away from me. It was the best!
