Golden Blocks Mural Unveiling 14 Apr 2025, 8:42 pm

Golden Blocks Mural Unveiling

Throughout 2024, residents of the Laney-Walker Boulevard and Bethlehem neighborhood have enjoyed the creation of the latest neighborhood mural, “The Golden Blocks: A Community Built on the Shoulders of Giants”. Local artist Theron Cartwright captured the history of Augusta’s notable blacks in the arts with images of Frank Yerby, Jessye Norman, Rosa Tutt and James Brown.

The mural is located on the FreshStartZ building owned by Denzel Robinson and located at Laney Walker Boulevard and 12th Street. The mural was made possible by the collaboration of The Augusta Housing and Community Development Department, the City of Augusta, the Porter Fleming Foundation, the Greater Augusta Arts Council and the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History.
