Dr. Milton Moore uses laser technology to remove moles at light speed

            For many men and women, the picture-perfect face they want to see when they look in the mirror is tarnished because of the appearance of moles.  Clinically named dermatosis papulosa nigra, the unsightly spots are often brown but they come in a wide range of colors, shapes and sizes.

            “Each mole has its own growth pattern,” says Dr. Milton Moore, a Houston dermatologist.  “At first, moles can be flat and tan, pink, brown or black in color, like a freckle.  Over time, they usually enlarge, change slowly, become more raised and darker, especially when exposed to the sun.”

            Dr. Moore also says the use of oral contraceptives and certain physical changes during the child-bearing years may make women particularly susceptible to the appearance of moles.

            Mole removal is one of the most frequently requested patient procedures at Dr. Moore’s dermatology clinic near the Texas Medical Center.  The latest laser technology enables Dr. Moore to literally zap away the growths in as little as 15 to 20 minutes, with patients experiencing virtually no pain or irritation.

            “Laser mole removal offers patients a wonderful alternative to traditional, more invasive surgical or chemical removal methods” Dr. Moore says.

            After a light numbing cream is applied to the targeted skin for patient comfort, each mole is individually disintegrated by a laser that pulses hundreds of times per second.  The rapid pulsing action prevents heat damage to the skin surrounding the mole and minimizes the risk of scarring.  After the procedure, most patients go right back to work or other normal activities.  Bandages are usually not necessary, and women can wear make-up to camouflage the small, light-colored spots that temporarily remain on the areas where the moles have been removed.  The spots usually take just a few days to heal and develop a normal, natural looking color that blends in with the rest of the skin.

            “There are no stitches, healing time is faster, there’s very little chance of infection, and the ultimate end result is a clear, smooth complexion that can make you look younger,” Dr. Moore says.

            The cost of laser mole removal varies depending on each patient’s clinical diagnosis before treatment starts as well as the size and number of moles being treated.  Many medical insurance plans cover the procedure, so check with your provider.

Helping police officers put their best face forward 8 Jan 2021, 6:00 pm

It’s my honor to receive an endorsement from Houston’s Afro-American Police Officers League for the Ultimate Shaving Solution, the collection of science-based products that I formulated as the centerpieces of Moore Unique Skin Care. Coronavirus Information You May Need To Know From Dr. Milton D. Moore 5 Mar 2020, 10:55 pm

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease COVID-19.

HOW IT SPREADS:

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets. This is why it is important to stay more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from a person who is sick.

The main way the disease spreads is through respiratory droplets expelled by someone who is coughing. The risk of catching COVID-19 from someone with no symptoms at all is very low.

Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.

Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

Maintain at least 1 meters (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common in animals. Rarely, people get infected with these viruses which may then spread to other people. For example, SARS-CoV was associated with civet cats and MERS-CoV is transmitted by dromedary camels. Possible animal sources of COVID-19 have not yet been confirmed.

Lets be concerned and knowledgeable but do not panic. USA never had the same degree of problem with SOARS as ASIA.
