Joy is something we choose, that we actively create. It is not something that happens randomly. Joy points the way to our higher development, success and energy. Our soul is nourished by joy. When we choose joy first, everything else unfolds: physical, emotional and mental healing, greater prosperity, more harmony, etc. In joy, we are now flowing with the universe. soul is nourished by joy. It is our natural state.
To know joy is to know what we must do to express our spirit in the world.
Experiencing joy as when we’re skiboarding means we’re literally rewiring our neurophysiology to experience more joy in the rest of our life, or make the necessary changes to experience more joy.
Egyptians believed that upon death, the God Osiris would ask: Did you bring joy and did you find joy?
Did you?

Joy and the Art of Skiboarding 23 Aug 2021, 12:48 am
It’s been quite a while since I wrote for my blog. As the season approaches however, I think about riding skiboards and my love of them. Opening the door to a new way of riding down the mountain, skiboards for me bring a feeling of freedom and joy. The experience of joy is really an experience of when you are aligned with your Authentic Self, as opposed to the persona or false self.
What I find is riding skiboards allows me to just let go, be in my present self. Hand in hand with this presence is the experience of pure joy. This is a habit that can be cultured and then carried over to your daily life. Skiboarding shows the way to then reevaluate your everyday life and make changes more towards joy. The more you know joy, the more it seeps into the rest of your life.
Happiness is generally focused outwards. Driving in the country makes me happy, walking with my dog, being at a party. Joy, on the other hand, is internal. It is not dependent on outer circumstances to elicit it. Joy is ignited when we allow ourselves to be free, flow, let go and being present with our life. Many ways to reignite joy and the more the experience, the stronger the connection becomes.
From the teachings of neuroplasticity, we are changeable. It becomes a matter of reprogramming our neural network. That comes quite simply with repetition. Focus more on joy, have more joy till that becomes your default. It is not so much work as it is placing your attention where we choose for it to be.
Certain sports of course allow us to enter the Zone, where we are no longer operating out of our False self, completely let go and joy results. The reason I love skiboards is this experience of the Zone happens so much more quickly than sports that require years of effort.
Like many sports, skiboarding becomes an art form, a projection of your creativity and joy as you flow down the slopes. This is my personal experience and each time I ride, I feel as though I am creating a painting on the snow, grooving one way and the next, feel flowing down the mountain. I know many of you skiboarders know what I am talking about. For those who aren’t give it a try and find out for yourself.

Welcome back Y’all – November 2020! 6 Nov 2020, 2:07 am
Welcome back ya’ll!
We’re super stoked here at Skiboards Superstore anticipating the winter season right around the corner! Our local area Wolf Creek is already open ~ whoop whoop! Who’s with us on the excitement to get out and play in the snow this year? I think we could ALL use that FLOW STATE to get into that place of pure sweet bliss & joy that getting on our skiboards ripping through powdery snow brings to our hearts and souls!
2020 – The Year of Awakening
Transformation on all levels; Life, Love, Politics & Adventure
If you’re like us, and so many others I know right now, we are all in, or coming out of, a period of transition (whether it’s something we’re consciously choosing or not – thank you Covid-19, political uprise & racial ).
This could be transition in one area of your life (like your business or career) or it could be in one or two areas, or like us, in ALL areas of your life…
Career/Business, Relationships, Friendships, Community, Health, Money, Spirituality….
When we’re in a place of transition, oftentimes we end up in what I call “The Abyss.”
The Abyss isn’t pretty, yet it’s what so many of us are experiencing right now. And it’s actually the sweet spot offered to us to WAKE UP, question our reality, and pivot, shift, or revamp what isn’t working and to awaken to our true life purpose and path.
The beauty of being in The Abyss is that THIS is the place where profound growth, change and transformation takes place. The trick of this place though is getting comfortable, with being uncomfortable.
The way we’ve been living is falling away, crumbling for many. We are dismantling one or more areas of our lives. But the NEW way of living, the NEW way of being or the NEW life that we are stepping into, has yet to come to full fruition.
So we end up in a space of darkness. Of emptiness. The unknown, and uncertainty. We know what was… will no longer be… but we don’t know yet what is to come. You’re stepping from a place of known into a place of unknown.
You’re stepping into The Abyss…
This can feel exciting and terrifying all at once!
The Abyss is an awfully uncomfortable (sometimes incredibly painful) place to be, and I know we can all resist the s*&% out of it most of the time, which always intensifies the feelings and usually makes things worse.
Personally, it feels almost as though living in a cocoon and being on the verge of coming forth into the world; as a bright beautiful butterfly having undergone a massive transformation.
If you are in The Abyss, here are 4 tips on how to handle it when you’re IN IT! Read More

Skiboarding Tips 5 Nov 2019, 2:39 am
Skiboarding Tips: A few techniques to get you started in the sport of Skiboarding.
1. Carving
Nothing teaches you to stay centered quicker than a riding a pair of skiboards. Skiboards teach immediate centered stance. Once you get the weight adjustment, the basics of carving are the same as skiing and inline skating — it’s all about where you apply foot pressure. Keep your hands in front for balance, bend your knees and pressure the edge under foot on your outside ski. The only difference is that on skiboards you can weight both skis almost evenly, creating a whip-quick carved turn.
2. Turning backward
There is nothing more alien to most skiers than skiing backward, which is exactly why it’s so much fun. The easiest forward-to-backward transition is to turn uphill until you completely change directions, slow to a halt and start sliding in reverse. However, to maintain forward speed, you need to learn the sliding turn. This turn is driven primarily from the hips: By twisting them in the direction you want to turn, they’ll steer your skiboards smoothly and swiftly. Do not focus on twisting your feet: you will be more likely to catch an edge. As your body begins to rotate, try to keep your head motionless and facing downhill. When you’ve turned 180 degrees, your shoulders will be perpendicular with the fall line and your head turned uphill. With your knees bent, use a scissors stance (skiboards staggered with one foot ahead of the other) for greater stability. To turn, while in reverse, concentrate on pressuring the downhill skiboards: the uphill one will follow. Again, using your hips to steer the turn back to forward position will guarantee smooth execution.
3. Getting air
Skiboards arc so light and maneuverable that they almost beg to be lifted off the snow. The basics for getting air apply, but here’s one skiboard-specific tip: stagger your feet for a more stable landing and use your knees to absorb the impact like a pair of pistons.
Conclusion: while these tips can be followed for improved skiboarding techniques, skiboards are so easy to learn that you will figure out what works bets for you quite quickly anyway.

Skiboards Museum 5 Nov 2019, 2:28 am
Welcome to our Skiboards Museum! We started our business in 1996, right when skiboards first hit the scene (well almost which you will find out more about). This amazing sport of skiboarding has a 23+ year history. For those of you who started out in the early years, just a refresher, for those new to skiboards, always good to know the history of the sport.
Developed originally by skaters to transfer skills to the slopes, many start up companies began creating their own models of skiboards including Canon skiboards, Line skiboards, Groove skiboards and Microski to name a few. Then other companies came along including Journey skiboards and a host of larger ski manufacturers like Fischer, Dynastar, Atomic, Salomon, Elan, Volkl, Head and more.
Check out our archives for some of the truly great models of skiboards once all the rage and still available in various online stores, ski shops and people’s garages.

The Flow State 20 Mar 2019, 12:01 am
The Flow State of Being
You’re skiboarding down a black diamond mountain slope, with the awe-inspiring snow-capped Rocky Mountains in your sight. You fall into your stride while everything else melts away. You’re skiboarding every twist and turn perfectly, effortlessly. Your movements seem timeless and every little sound becomes more vivid and intense — the sliding of your skiboards against the powder, the bending movements of your knees, and your rhythmic smooth breathing. Focused to the moment, yet encompassing the entire mountain experience at the same time, you are in the “flow”. Just flowing in the moment, all cares drop away and becoming one with the mountain. You are having, quite literally, a peak experience.
Peak experiences are moments in which your mind becomes entirely absorbed in the activity so much so that you “forget yourself” along with everything else in your life. You act effortlessly, with a heightened sense of awareness of the here and now (the only place we really inhabit), otherwise defined as “being in the Zone.”
This experience has become the focus of much research in recent years by neural-psychologists. According to Mihaly Csikszentmihaly, “What you are experiencing in that moment is known as flow, a state of complete immersion in an activity.” He describes the mental state of flow as “being completely involved in an activity for its own sake. The ego falls away.”
In order for a flow state to occur, the activity must be enjoyable. It also requires skill and has an element of challenge. Interestingly, a flow state is characterized by a complete loss of self-consciousness, a total letting go. The exciting news is that entering this flow state is highly correlated with happiness, joy, and bliss! And, this carries over into your daily life! Those who experience this flow state in their daily lives exhibit other positive traits, such as higher concentration, increased self-esteem, and even greater health.
Those who ride skiboards know this experience, even from the first day. As the fear factor drops away, what emerges is a true experience of expansion, joy, liberation and even ecstasy! This is why people love skiboarding – its the freeing experience that skiboards offer right out of the gate. Skiboards set us up for experiencing peak moments on a regular basis.
But it is so much more than this, for it helps to create new neural pathways in the brain – coined the science of neuroplasticity. Habit patterns form in the brain that then condition us to respond in patterned ways. This is considered a normal part of aging, sometimes called – “getting set in our ways”.
However, the brain, it has been discovered, is capable of creating new pathways, thus giving us the option to break with old habits, reverse aging and expand to our true potential. Stepping from skiing, or not even skiing ever, into a new sport – skiboarding – exemplifies this process of neuroplasticity, rewriting our personal experience of life and what is possible.

George Bernard Shaw 25 Feb 2019, 2:10 am
This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.
I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.
I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no “brief candle” for me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.
