Doorways steps up to help project getting homeless off the streets 16 Dec 2019, 5:40 pm

When our friends at Whiting-Turner told us about a very special “tiny home” project they were doing, we knew we had to be involved.

Beloved Community Village in the Globeville neighborhood just north of downtown Denver isn’t our typical type of project. However, this unique community provides transitional housing for homeless people looking to re-establish themselves.

The eight homes that are being added to the existing 11 will provide safe living spaces for up to 16 additional residents. A community center with bathrooms, showers, a kitchen and a community space will provide much-needed amenities.

The homes are small but they will provide a big impact to the homeless that will soon have a roof over their head.

Doorways supplied the doors and hardware for the project at cost and, this past Saturday, five of our top employees provided the labor to install everything at no charge to Whiting-Turner or the community.

We need to also recognize Vice President of Operations Keith Rigli, Account Manager Brian Phillips and Field Service Technicians Jeff Squillace, Carlos Mijares and Marcus Hall who devoted a day of their weekend to this special project.

It was our honor to contribute, particularly at this special time of the year when we are called on to remember those who might be having a hard time and just need a little bit of help.

Doorways’ sponsorship helps provide school supplies for every teacher at local school 13 Sep 2018, 1:07 pm

We have long been firm believers in giving back to the communities in which we live and work and do so routinely.  That’s why, when our good friends at Adolfson & Peterson Construction asked us to help with their Back 2 School Bounty program, we jumped at the chance.

Back 2 School Bounty provides boxes chock full of supplies to schools and teachers, providing valuable resources for K-12 education and helping teachers do their job without having to worry about out of pocket expenses.  Boxes contain everything from markers and glue to coffee gift cards and hand sanitizer.

Doorways quickly became a “Bounty Box Advocate”, the highest level of sponsorship possible for the program.  Yesterday, we were very excited to learn that every single teacher at Swansea Elementary in the Denver Public Schools district received a bounty box!

It is said a teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart.  We could not agree more with that sentiment and are happy to have helped these teachers accomplish that.

Doorways brings it all to Denver’s first high-rise in 30 years 24 Apr 2018, 2:56 pm

Two-and-a-half years in the making, 1144 Fifteenth is now open and becomes an unmistakable addition to the Mile High City’s skyline. At over 600 feet and 40 stories tall, the new building is the fourth tallest in the city and a project that Doorways is very proud of.

The building will house corporate headquarters for Chipotle, Gates Corp. and Optiv, all well-known Colorado companies, and dozens of other tenants. In all, 26 floors are dedicated to office space, 13 floors make up a parking garage.

This massive structure built by Hensel Phelps required unmatched expertise of all trades to ensure construction was completed safely, on time and to specifications.

As with so many other notable buildings in the state, Colorado Doorways was called on to provide the doors, frames and architectural hardware.

In all, approximately 775 door openings were supplied. Most notably, our Shop Applied Hardware department was utilized, installing hardware on the doors before they even shipped to the job site. This allowed for much faster installation and securing of the building while keeping installation costs down for the customer.

Another school in the books 10 Apr 2018, 2:26 pm

Adams County School District 27J and Saunders Construction put the wraps on the district’s newest school today and will open it to students in the fall.

The third high school in the district and the first for the district in Thornton, Riverdale Ridge High School is a 253,000-square-foot facility on 60 acres that can accommodate 1,800 students. It features a two-story classroom wing, a 530-seat auditorium, two gyms, a career and technical education wing and complete athletic facilities.

Doorways is proud to have once again partnered with our friends at Saunders Construction, Inc. to provide the architectural hardware, wood doors and hollow metal doors and frames.
