Sustainability awards and new business wins! 11 Dec 2024, 6:23 pm

A quick update on wins, awards, new people and anything else going on in our network.

E3 agencies take sustainability seriously. Following Schindler Parent’s DNK Sustainability Report last month, we have more agencies seeking formal certification for their sustainability efforts. BDB in Manchester, who have been climate-neutral certified since 2021 now have a bronze sustainability medal from EcoVadis while Zuk in Trier, Germany went one better with silver. Have you got yours sorted yet? More to the point, how many of your clients will start demanding it soon?

High interest rates are still making life harder and budgets smaller for many, but BBC in Belgium at least are bucking the trend by winning the Global Account for Equans and signing a contract to rebrand SonicWall. Brandigo China have brightened up their act with a brand refresh, while SPS Marketing have news of two large and very successful trade show projects for Magna and Lincoln Electric.

Talking of trade shows, this was the subject of the inaugural E3 Inspiration Hour, a new online initiative where E3 members meet online for an hour to share tips and ideas. We’ll report back on this in later newsletters – but expect more E3 Inspiration Hours in the future!

Manchester: a different kind of AGM! 24 Jun 2024, 4:49 pm

“This is Manchester. We do things differently.”

This is how BDB CEO Matt Smith began his welcome presentation on Friday evening when delegates gathered at BDB’s offices. Over the next few days, we understood what he meant.

The programme included a tour of Manchester key sights – even including a photo-opportunity at the Manchester United FC ground, Old Trafford. But it was the event itself that will stick most in the memory.

Creativity, change and agency culture

The annual E3 awards event was completely re-formatted, with award entries hanging in Manchester Art Gallery alongside leading works of art. Find out how your agency got on here.

The programme itself focused on agency culture. We all understand how marketing agencies work – and we understand the importance of creating a culture that makes great work possible. A number of superb guest speakers joined over thirty delegates for a two-day programme that took in psychology, inclusivity and retention, along with many other topics in between:

GUEST SPEAKERS

Guest speaker: Calum Arthur

Calum applies his extensive knowledge of psychology to leadership in business and how to build a winning leadership team. For a taste of his work, check out his leadership model developed for the British Military (not classified, we promise) and a fascinating piece on how football managers like Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho need charisma off the pitch to create success on it…

Guest speaker: Vimla Appadoo

Vimla calls herself “a design leader, international speaker and advocate for changing the way businesses think, using Culture, Design and Technology to align profit and purpose”. That’s probably only part of what she can do, given the impact of her talk on Revolutionising Command: Dismantling traditional power structures in agency cultures. A breath of fresh air – find out more here.

Guest speaker: Sunil Jindal

To Sunil, DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity) is not a nice to have but a clear competitive advantage. In his day job, he talks to top-level execs about why DEI matters to organisations as a driver for growth and innovation, focusing on the corporate market and investors. In Manchester, his session called “DEI Disruption: The jewel in your and your clients crown” helped E3 members to take a fresh look at this key part of agency culture.

Thanks also to other speakers, including the panel of Léon Milns, Claire Smith, and Derek Bishop in the Q&A session on talent retention: “The Alchemy Behind Attracting & Retaining Top Talent”

What’s the buzz? 25 Sep 2023, 12:46 pm

A quick update on wins, awards, new people and anything else going on in our network.

With its beautiful and natural lakeside setting, and their own bee colony, it’s perhaps not surprising that Schindler Parent have recently been taking the lead in sustainability and releasing their DNK Sustainability Report. They’re also naturally successful, winning a new client in food packaging company Multivac, and four recent wards for clients Düker, Kitz and Homag.

The Marketing Practice have also been busy bees, announcing a great new business win as Media Agency of Record for renewable energy solutions provider Neste. They’ve shared some cool content: if you ever sell to cybersecurity people, here’s a handy guide telling how to press all the right buttons. Oh, and they’ve been telling LinkedIn how they’ve been shortlisted for 9 B2B Marketing Awards. Fingers crossed!

Over in Israel, Oz Branding have completely revamped their website. And filled it with some interesting thought pieces on ABMAI and branding for beginners. Not that any of us need that, obviously…

Over in Paris, BB&B are proud to announce a new client – DC power conversion specialists Brightloop – and a new member of the team, Stéphane. Welcome to you both!

And finally, news of a new network in the Netherlands. Our friends in Amsterdam, Lemm En Ten Haaf have announced that they are now part of the larger Happy Horizon group. Check out what it means here.
