Kitchen Range Hoods and Kitchen Vent HoodsThe Importance Of Cleaning Your Grease Filters 28 Aug 2020, 6:00 pm
Ventilation maintenance is required in order to keep your range hood running properly and efficiently. One important cleaning tip is to make sure that your grease filters are cleaned frequently, especially if your range hood is used often. Over time grease and other impurities tend to stick to the bottom of your filters. If you do not clean these filters, especially after heavy use, your filters will not be as effective. Below are some tips on how to keep your home safe and your filters cleaned correctly.
Removing Your Filter
Faber has a variety of wonderful styles to choose from and most of these models have grease filters conveniently located on the underside of the hood. Twelve of our models are designed with a front panel for our perimeter aspiration feature. If you have one of these models simply pull down the perimeter aspiration panel in order to access the grease filters. Once you have accessed the filters, grab a hold of the pull tab and the filters should slide right out.
How Often Should You Clean Your Grease Filters?
Your grease filters must be cleaned every 2 months of operation or more frequently for particular heavy usage. Your filters can be washed by soaking in warm water and dish detergent or simply by placing them in the dishwasher. When working with your filters please make sure not to bend or fold as this could cause damage. After cleaning, please make sure filters are completely dry and all water and/or liquids are completely gone before re-installing.
If you are planning on cleaning the outside of your range hood at the same time as your filters, please remember that only stainless steel cleaner should be used on stainless steel range hoods. Abrasives and scouring agents can scratch stainless steel finishes and should not be used to clean a finished surface.
We hope these tips will help with the efficiency and longevity of your hood.

Humidity & Moisture In The Home 27 Feb 2020, 8:38 pm
The kitchen is one of the biggest offenders in the home when it comes to collecting excess moisture and steam. Excess humidity can lead to mold, mildew, indoor air pollutants and discomfort in the home. Mold exposure can cause congestion, throat irritation, coughing and other respiratory issues such as asthma and allergies.
One of the best ways to remove unwanted impurities from the kitchen is to purchase a range hood. A range hood is a great way to remove excess steam, heat, carbon monoxide and other pollutants that cooking can release into the air. When using this product it is recommended to turn on 15 minutes before and after cooking. This will help to capture any moisture that may be lingering before and after food preparation.
It is also important to clean your grease and charcoal filters. Metal grease filters should be cleaned every two months or more frequently with heavy use. You should place your filters in a hot detergent solution or wash in the dishwasher. Abrasives and scouring agents can scratch the stainless steel finish and should not be used to clean a finished surface. Please remove all water or any other liquid before re-installing the filters. Faber also has two different types of charcoal filters that need to be cleaned or maintained if you are recirculating. The first option is the FILTER1. The FILTER1 is non washable option that cannot be regenerated. This filter should be replaced every 4 months or more frequently with heavy use. The second type of charcoal filter is the FILTER1LL. The FILTER1LL is a new model that can be washed up to 8 times and lasts up to 4 years. Please remember to completely dry before placing back up into the hood. These simple tips will help your vent hood’s longevity and capture moisture and steam more effectively.
Please consider Faber when choosing ventilation as we have a variety of styles to choose from and we strive for complete customer satisfaction.
