SecurBand Wristbands with Clean-Tab™ Feature Help Venues Avoid Messy Tab Litter

April 5, 2023 – PDC, a global leader of identification solutions, announced today the launch of the SecurBand® wristband for single-day events.  Developed to be the most affordable single-day-use wristband for simple and easy identification, SecurBand® wristbands are highly-vibrant and easy to see at a distance, making them the perfect choice for controlling event access.  Their non-transferable strong adhesive and tamper-evident cuts prevent reuse, increasing security.

SecurBand® features a unique contoured wristband head shape that makes it easier to apply and also prevents the adhesive from sticking to the skin, enhancing guest comfort.  Its smooth, bright material provides a crisp canvas for adding an organization’s logo or imprint to help promote branding and security efforts.  SecurBand® wristbands are available in a variety of vibrant colors and come in easy-to-separate sheets.  They are offered in packs of 500 wristbands.

PDC Launches Comfort Cushion™ Mammography Pad to Help Breast Health Centers Improve the Patient Experience 20 Oct 2022, 7:00 am

Soft Cushion Aids Comfort and Proper Breast Positioning During Mammograms

October 25, 2022 – PDC, a global leader of innovative identification and patient safety solutions, announced today the launch of the Comfort Cushion™ Mammography Pad for use by mammography providers, including hospitals and breast and women’s health centers. The cushy pad is applied by mammography technicians to the receptor plate of the mammography machine to reduce patient discomfort during compression. While October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, a time when the nation emphasizes the need for screening for early detection of cancer, mammography clinicians are concerned that mammography screening volumes still have not returned to pre-COVID-19 levels.

“Our breast health center customers are always looking for ways to make patients more comfortable while also capturing accurate images during the procedure,” said Lisa Kim, Global Product Lead at PDC. “That’s why we created Comfort Cushion. It reduces patient discomfort, but the grip of the cushion also makes it easier for technicians to properly position and secure breasts, leading to more accurate imaging and diagnosis.”

“Comfort Cushion improves the patient experience by making the mammogram exam more comfortable,” said Moriah Montilla, R.T.(R)(M), Department Supervisor at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. “We hope Comfort Cushion will help patients to feel more comfortable to return each year for their annual mammogram.”

Comfort Cushion is applied directly to the image receptor with a convenient self-adhesive and is easily and cleanly removed when the image capture is complete. It comes in two convenient sizes to allow technicians to choose the size that best fits the patient and their image receptor. Comfort Cushion features a soft, spongy feel and is a pleasing lavender color. It is packaged 50 per box.

PDC Introduces Ident-Alert® IV Port Clips to Help Anesthesiologists Prevent Medication Errors 1 Nov 2021, 9:00 am

Colored Clips Developed by PDC and Anesthesiologist, Dr. Christopher Walters, Provide a Visual Cue at the IV Injection Port

November 1, 2021 – PDC, a global leader of innovative identification and patient safety solutions, announced today the launch of Ident-Alert® IV Port Clips for hospitals and healthcare providers. Developed with anesthesiologist Dr. Christopher Walters, these colored clips attach to IV injection ports to visually alert an anesthesiologist of medication allergies, instructions or special conditions of surgical patients.ency response solution.

Medication errors can lead to adverse drug events (ADE) and are responsible for 7,000 deaths in US hospitals per year. Errors also increase length of stay and medical costs, while reducing reimbursements for providers.

Dr. Walters identified a need for an additional alert for anesthesiologists prior to injecting medications into an IV port that would be seen at the port site.

“Anesthesiology is a very unique field where we’re taking medication from the vial and going right to the port where there’s currently no physical reminder,” said Dr. Walters. “We’re constantly under pressure and moving fast. The IV Port Clip cues your memory, shakes you out of any routine, and stops you from making an error.”

Ident-Alert IV Port Clips are highly visible and made of durable, pliable plastic to securely attach directly onto IV lines. The Ident-Alert IV Port Clips are available in six colors and can be used for color coding to align with other alert systems that hospitals have in place, such as alert wristbands and labels. Abbreviated instructions can also be written directly on the clips. The clips are FDA 21 CFR 175,105 designated with no toxins or harsh chemicals.

“Implementing the clips can help prevent IV medication administration errors,” said Lisa Kim, senior product manager, PDC. “The Ident-Alert IV Port Clips are a simple solution at a low cost that can have a significant impact in preventing human errors,” said Kim. “We think this will become accepted as a new standard of care to increase patient safety within hospitals.”

PDC Introduces React Mobile® Panic Button Employee Safety Platform to Protect Employees 9 Jul 2020, 12:21 am

The company enters a strategic partnership with React Mobile®, an employee safety technology company

MANHEIM, Pennsylvania – July 9, 2020 – PDC, a global leader in identification products, access control, and safety solutions, announces the introduction of React Mobile®, a precise, location-based panic button alert system to be offered to healthcare and education markets. Through its parent company, Brady Corporation, PDC entered a strategic partnership with React Mobile, an employee safety technology company. This partnership allows PDC to bring the React Mobilev® platform to their healthcare and education industry customers for a rapid emergency response solution.

The React Mobile® platform answers the call for greater employee and student protections. Healthcare workplace violence has been on the rise with intentional injuries to nurses by patients up 67% from 2012 to 2018. The Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act was passed by the House of Representatives in 2019 and requires employers to have plans to prevent violence in the workplace and to report any violent incidents. In education, Alyssa’s Law calls for the installation of silent panic alarms that are directly linked to law enforcement to speed up response times in cases of emergency.

React Mobile® is an employee safety solution built for organizations that allows for rapid emergency response when every second counts, putting panic buttons in the hands of employees. In the case of an emergency, an employee simply presses the button, and the on-location security team is alerted to their precise location within the facility’s campus within seconds. The React Mobile® platform uses GPS geolocation and Bluetooth® beacon technology to provide unparalleled accuracy to locate an employee in distress. It can also be configured to connect directly with local law enforcement agencies, to meet the requirements of Alyssa’s Law.

The React Mobile® system is cloud-based, with no cabling or fixed hardware for quick and easy implementation. React Mobile® is more reliable than app-based alert systems as it provides full coverage of indoor and outdoor spaces with room-level location accuracy. The system consists of the following that can be custom configured based upon an organization’s needs:

  • BLE 5.0 Beacon for precise, room level location accuracy
  • Stand-alone LTE Panic Button that provides freedom from a tethered device
  • Dispatch Center Software is the central portal for administrative control and alert monitoring
  • Sidekick Bluetooth 5.0 Panic Button that pairs with mobile devices
  • Mobile App

“PDC has always prioritized our customers’ employee safety with our employee identification and visitor management solutions,” said Josh Rundus, Global Director of Product Management for PDC. “React Mobile amplifies our focus on employee safety, bringing a potentially life-saving technology to our education and healthcare customers, where workplace violence is on the rise.”

“We believe that in today’s times, employee panic buttons are must-have technology in the healthcare and education industries,” said Sean Souffie, Vice President of Sales at PDC. “Our strategic partnership with React Mobile combines their proven technology platform and expertise with our industry expertise to provide a best-in-class employee safety solution.” To learn more about PDC React Mobile, visit PDCHealthcare.com/ReactMobile or IDenticard.com/ReactMobile.

PDC Launches New Ident-Alert™ Color Coded Wraps for Identifying Special Risk Patient Conditions 28 Oct 2019, 8:00 am

Innovative All-in-one ID Solution Allows Providers to Reduce Patient Wristbands

VALENCIA, California October 28, 2019 – PDC, a global leader of innovative identification and patient safety solutions, announced today it has added Ident-Alert™ Wraps to its extensive patient identification offering for hospitals and healthcare providers. The average inpatient wears three wristbands, which can cause discomfort and interfere with IV access. Ident-Alert™ Wraps allow providers using traditional alert wristbands to reduce patient wristbands by 50% or more by consolidating multiple alerts onto one wristband for improved patient comfort and IV access.

Ident-Alert™ color coded wraps meet the national standardization guidelines that are endorsed by the American Hospital Association (AHA) and provide highly visible, color coded alerts with easy-to-read text. The wraps are compatible with all laser and thermal wristbands and feature a patent-pending wrap-around design and strong tamper-evident adhesive to keep alerts securely in place on patient’s main admit wristband. Alert wraps come on a roll in a compact dispenser box (3” x 3” X 1-1/4”) for easy storage and access and fit neatly on a shelf, desktop, or cart. Ident-Alert Wraps are available in the nationally standardized colors which include: red for “Allergy,” yellow for “Fall Risk,” green for “No Latex,” purple for “DNR,” and pink for “Limb Alert.”

“Many providers who use traditional alert wristbands have been looking for a better way to identify patients with special risks because patients are complaining of too many wristbands. PDC has developed an all-in-one solution that works with any laser or thermal wristband and provides better visibility and security than what’s on the market today,” said Owen Rooney, Marketing Manager, Patient Identification for PDC. “Ident-Alert™ Wraps have been welcomed by nursing units and patients because they are more comfortable and don’t get in the way of IV placement.”

Ident-Alert™ Wraps are packaged in boxes of 250 wraps. Convenient pre-printed guides on the wraps help providers align the wraps for easy placements on main admit wristbands. Providers can also customize the wraps to meet their organization’s unique needs by using different colors or printing different text or icons. Ident-Alert™ is manufactured by PDC. For more information about Ident-Alert™ Wraps, please visit www.pdchealthcare.com/alertwraps.
