We were all saddened to hear of the passing of Fair enthusiast Eric Richardson who played in Bo’ness & Carriden Band until he retired from playing.
Best known to me for his one liners having only played at the Fair so many times but having played at the Marches hunders o times. He must have been proud of his sons Kirk & Kenneth who both followed him to the band and along the Kirk on percussion won the Scottish Championship.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Kirk, Kenny and their families at this sad time.
We thought we would take you back to when he wrote an article for the Fair programme in 2001.

Mrs Heather Cullen will crown Queen Elect Sophie 17 Jan 2025, 7:34 pm
It is with much pleasure to announce that Mrs Heather Cullen has been chosen to crown Queen Elect Sophie on Friday 27th June 2025 and has accepted.
Heather has loved the Bo’ness Children’s Fair Festival through and through since an early age. Along with her twin sister Claire they both attended Bo’ness Public School where in 1969 were both Fairies and in 1972 Presentees in “The White Horse Inn” That year the Public School saw their own Queen, Jean Dewar crowned and many a name remembered from the characters list that year.
Teaching was her goal since an early age and went on to teach at Blackness where she also took in a positive display with her pupils learning them a routine for presentees and the one that stood out was “Alice Cooper – Schools Out”
Heather completed her time at Kinneil Primary. I am sure from the website to all her former teachers & pupils Along with the whole community and former school friends at Bo’ness Academy. Also pupils who attended Bo’ness Public with her under Mr Flint & Mrs Andrews at Bo’ness Public. She is the perfect choice.
