Gold of Nimrud 2 Feb 2022, 5:41 pm

In 1989 one of the world’s most astounding archaeological discoveries was made – intact royal tombs in the ruins of an Assyrian palace over 2,500 years old. Excavators opening the tombs found unbelievable quantities of highly crafted gold jewellery still on the bodies of the Queens of one of the wealthiest and most powerful empires the world has ever seen.

It was feared that the treasure was lost in the Gulf War, but international news headlines created a sensation announcing that the treasure was rediscovered in the National Bank of Iraq in 2003.  In 2004 UEG was selected by the Iraqi Government and the Minister of Culture and granted a contract to create an extraordinary exhibition for a world tour to showcase the Gold of Nimrud.

UEG prepared an exhibition where the Gold of Nimrud was set in the context of the palace of Nimrud in which it was discovered through the creation of an exact facsimile of the throne room thus revealing to visitors the opulence and sophistication of the ancient Assyrian Kings and Queens.  The exhibition also told the story of the long period of excavation of the palace including the contribution of the famous mystery writer Agatha Christie, the discovery of the Queen’s tombs, and the subsequent securing of the gold during the war.

Political unrest and internal conflicts within Iraq resulted in the Iraq Government not releasing the objects for exhibition that were scheduled to go on an International Museum Exhibition tour to 12 of the world’s leading Museums.

Quest for Treasures: Searching for Lost Empires 2 Feb 2022, 5:35 pm

The Quest for Treasures Exhibition brought together for the first time outstanding treasures collected by European explorers who went to dangerous and little known lands in Africa, South America, and the Middle East during the colonial period.  Visitors to the exhibition encountered not only these rare cultural artefacts, but also discovered what it was like for the adventurous individuals who went on these expeditions of discovery.

The exhibition traced the transition from curious and opportunistic collecting to the scientific recovery and study of significant artefacts giving visitors insight into the fascinating stories of how objects they see in museums came to be there.  Highlights of the exhibition included the gold of Ur, Peruvian mummies, and personal items belonging to the famous mystery writer, Agatha Christie.

The Greatest Fairy Tale: Hans Christian Andersen 2 Feb 2022, 5:28 pm

The Greatest Fairy Tale: The Amazing Life and Story of Hans Christian Andersen transported visitors into a fairy tale world to experience the work, life, and times of one of the greatest story tellers the world has known.  The exhibition blended highly interactive and audio-visual exhibits with original objects to reveal how the true events of Hans Christian Andersen’s life shaped and inspired his famous fairy tales.

The exhibition was designed in response to the HCA 2005 foundation’s worldwide celebrations of 200th anniversary of Hans Christian Andersen’s birth.  The H.C. Andersen 2005 foundation and the Danish Ministry of Culture officially granted the right to produce the official exhibition for the celebrations to the United Exhibits Group seeing the exhibition as “one of the most significant dimensions of the celebration of Hans Christian Andersen” in 2005.

Holography: Ultimate 3D 2 Feb 2022, 5:23 pm

Ultimate 3D: The Wonder of Holography relates back to the early work of United Exhibits group where it arranged some of the first significant exhibitions of holographic images.  This most recent exhibition assembles the largest collection of holographic images ever to tour into an extraordinary exhibition from, among others, countries like the USA, UK, France, Denmark and Russia.

200 Holographic works drawn from significant international collections reveal the astounding ability of holography to produce not only surprisingly life-like 3-Dimensional portraits of people and animals, but also to have those portraits reproduce movement. Such portraiture can only be compared to the magical world of Harry Potter brought into reality today.

Dawn of the Human Spirit 1 Feb 2022, 2:56 pm

Dawn of the Human Spirit brought seven of the world’s most significant and visually breath-taking prehistoric rock art sites together into a museum setting using state-of-the-art media technology (Chauvet & Lascaux, France; Alta, Norway; Huashan, China; Kakadu, Australia; Great Gallery, USA; and Game Pass, South Africa).  It presented the latest scientific interpretation and artistic understanding to these pictures emphasizing the relationship of the pictures to technology and the natural environment through the expertise of an international panel of leading specialists in rock art, zoology, and psychology.

The underlying message of the exhibition was that the Dawn of the Human Spirit was a kind of ‘mental awakening’ seen in the making of Rock Art – it was a cognitive leap that set prehistoric cultures fully on par with our own.

The exhibition aimed for visitors to leave understanding more about their own humanness and their place in the modern world through finding common ground with our most ancient human ancestors.  The exhibition was sponsored by UNESCO.
